A landfill is an intricately detailed basin in the ground designed to protect groundwater from pollution. These projects take years to develop and require a significant financial investment. We divide our landfills into cells. These designated areas are then prepared for trash disposal. Anew landfill cell involves numerous stages of production and takes months to complete. One of the biggest challenges when creating a landfill cell is the weather. An unusually wet year may increase the project’s timeline.

We handle the process from excavation to the safe covering of the waste within the cell. Contact us today to get started on this critical environmental endeavor.

Landfill caps are critically important when it comes to waste management. These caps come with several benefits, including operational ease and revenue-generating outcomes. The use of Landfill caps helps control leachate and odor. They also reduce emissions and expedite gas capture. Caps are centrally necessary to perform cell closure, and often impact the bottom line for operators benefiting from landfill gases to produce fuels.

The improved technologies and materials used in caps are increasing their value and practicality. These materials help with the longevity of existing caps and require less maintenance than traditional soil caps. Ask us about the materials we use for our landfill caps.

The temporary cap prevents gas from escaping from the sides of your landfill and directs it towards the gas acquisition method in put in place. The temporary cap is a reinforced LLDPE that covers open landfill cells that are not being used. The cap keeps water from seeping into the landfill, which reduces the overall production of gas in each cell. This cap prevents the collection of leachate along the side slopes of the landfill and decreases the odors coming from the landfill.

Without a cap on the landfill, the rain will enter the cells and create leachate. (Water that’s been corrupted after draining through the trash.) Contact us today to see how our landfill cap will help complete your esteemed project.

Rather than emerging from the landfill into the air, Landfill Gas can be caught, transformed, and used as a renewable energy source. You can use Landfill Gasses to help reduce odors and other dangers associated with Landfill emissions. This also prevents methane from moving into the environment and adding to things like smog and climate change. Also, Landfill Gas energy projects produce revenue and create jobs for the community.

Landfill Gasses are extracted from landfills using a series of pits and vacuums. This method directs gas to a central point where it is then processed and used depending on the need for the gas. After it is collected, the gas can be burned or used in a separate Landfill Gas energy plan.

We can help you incorporate Landfill Gas collection in your next waste management project.

Floating covers protect the water reservoirs from evaporation, algae, pollution, and the loss of necessary water cleaning chemicals like chlorine. In wastewater treatments, floating covers prevent odors, deter wildlife from entering the pond, and limit the buildup of algae.

A floating pond cover is made of a flexible geomembrane fixed on top of a liner. The liner provides the pond with shade and windproofing, and the geomembrane liquid injected between the two layers allows the cover to float atop the water. Floating covers are made of thousands of single, similar, and symmetrical elements that form a barrier on top of liquid bodies. The small holes in between those elements allow water to flow into the reservoir, and unlike geomembrane, rainwater does not build up on top of the floating cover.

Vapor Barriers maintain the spread of condensation or harmful chemical vapors through the floor or ceiling of your building. A Vapor Barrier is an essential element of building construction. It helps prevent water vapor from seeping into building walls, ceilings, attics, crawlspaces, or roofs– where it then condenses and causes building materials to rot or grow mold. ALCO will install a vapor barrier that will protect your building from any condensation damage or air leakage. A Vapor Barrier will manage your internal humidification and protect your building and workers from exposure to harmful substances.

We’ll take a look at the plans for your new facility and let you know if it needs Vapor Barriers.

Traditional landfill covers rely on trucking soils, heavy municipal construction, on-going maintenance, and not to mention repairs. They require large amounts of land and are frequently lacking sufficient ground to complete proper closure construction, and these landfills experience on-going depletion and sedimentation problems. ClosureTurf® is an EPA, Subtitle D Compliant landfill closure solution designed to solve age-old problems like soil erosion, slope integrity, gas emissions, installation and maintenance costs, EPA regulations, and longevity.

ClosureTurf is a licensed, three-component system consisting of a structured geomembrane, an engineered turf, and a specialized gravel infill. The engineered turf gives the system a natural look and feel while protecting the geomembrane from extreme weather conditions. The specialized sand infill placed between the turf’s blades allows the system to be trafficked while providing extra shelter from weathering. ClosureTurf is a fast and easy landfill closure solution.
